A short walk from the village centre and the Allenheads Inn

The track to our cottage runs through the trees opposite the mine yard on “the top road” B6295.

If you are coming by bike on the Alston/Nenthead road you should come through the village past the Allenheads Inn and then turn left at the crossroads.

About 50 yards along you will find the village war memorial. If you stand with your back to the war memorial cross you will see, ahead of you, a track on the right hand side of the main road leading up a wooded hill. Follow this track for about 300 yards. The gate at the bottom of the track is usually open, but if it is closed it means there are animals grazing so please just close it after you!

Failing that, just ask anybody to point you towards Newhouses.
